Thomas R. Johnson serves as Chief Financial Officer of Blue Sky Communities, where he oversees the company’s finance, accounting, and asset management functions in support of Blue Sky’s mission to develop and preserve high-quality affordable housing.

Tom brings more than three decades of senior financial leadership experience to Blue Sky. Prior to joining the company, he spent over 15 years with Conifer Realty, LLC, a leading affordable housing developer, owner, and manager of nearly 14,000 multifamily units across New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Maryland. As Chief Financial Officer and Principal, he led the firm’s finance, accounting, tax, portfolio management, and information technology functions. He played a key role in several major corporate milestones, including Conifer’s recapitalization in 2012 and the sale of a majority interest in 2020. In recognition of his leadership, Tom was named Financial Executive of the Year by the Rochester Business Journal in 2014.

 

Earlier in his career, Tom served as Chief Financial Officer of United Franchise Group, a multi-brand global franchising organization with operations in more than 30 countries, and as CFO of TextWise, LLC, a software company specializing in internet semantic search technologies.

 

Tom holds a Bachelor of Science in Business and Accounting from the State University of New York at Oswego, where he graduated magna cum laude
